Singapore-headquartered container carrier APL on 12 October launched a new fortnightly US-flagged service to Guam and Saipan.
The new shipping service, Guam Saipan Express (GSX), will connect with APL’s existing weekly US-flagged Eagle Express service (EX1) in Yokohama, Japan, providing shippers in Guam and Saipan an alternative shipping from the US mainland.
“The GSX service will also provide new opportunities for global shippers to expand their business to Guam and Saipan,” said APL president Kenneth Glenn.
The first sailing of the new GSX service is expected to depart Yokohama on 24 November. The service’s port rotation is Yokohama-Saipan-Guam-Yokohama.
According to APL’s corporate announcement, a dedicated 1,100 teu vessel will service the route. The GSX service is scheduled for weekend arrivals for ready cargo availability on Monday mornings in both Guam and Saipan.
