BW Group has won a contract to use a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) to regasify LNG for the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS).
The Singapore-based company said the FSRU BW Singapore, which it ordered from Samsung Heavy Industries for USD260 million in April, would be used to service the contract.
BW CEO Carsten Mortensen said the project has an exceptionally rapid schedule.
“The project requires a fast-track schedule – five months from project inception to first gas – which represents a record short time for implementation and is made possible because of excellent collaboration between EGAS and BW,” he said.
Due to be ready in September 2015, the FSRU is slated to sail in October to Ain Sokhna, Egypt.
BW Singapore can store up to 170,000 m3 of gas and regasify up to 750 mmscfd.
