China Transport Telecommunications & Information Centre (CTTIC), a company affiliated with China’s Ministry of Transport, launched Myships.com, China’s independently developed maritime information service platform.
The platform is constructed on the basis of vessel positions, tracking as many as 300,000 vessels around the world, a statement of CTTIC said.
Besides vessel positions, the platform features vessel’s past sailings, global nautical charts, and maritime weather forecasts including typhoon alerts.
With the help of its Chinese business partners, the platform can bring together maps of ports, with piers and berths displayed on the platform.
In addition, it is open to third-party development on the basis of Aliyun Cloud Computing, a cloud computing service provided by China’s New York-listed Alibaba Group. A ship management application has already been developed on the platform, CTTIC said.
