China Shipbuilding Corporation (CSBC), the only listed shipbuilder in Taiwan, expects to receive orders for 10 3,000 teu container ships and four 1,800 teu container ships from TS Lines and Evergreen, respectively, in July.
The orders value a total of TWD15 billion (USD485 million), said CSBC general manager Chen Feng-lin.
Although CSBC’s current price of the 3,000 teu box ships is set at USD35 million each, the actual price of the box ships ordered by Evergreen could be higher because the carrier has higher standard requirements, added Chen.

CSBC has completed negotiations with TS Lines, and the builder expects TS Lines to place its order earlier than Evergreen, said Chen.
According to Chen, SITC Line has also expressed its intention to place new orders at CBSC, following the delivery of one of 12 1,800 teu container ships it ordered at CSBC.
