South Korea’s Busan-based Dae Sun Shipyard has been contracted to build a single container vessel by compatriot owners.
The 1,800 teu eco container vessel has been ordered by Dongjin Shipping, with delivery expected in early 2017.
The vessel is designed to enter the draft-restricted port of Bangkok, which can only accommodate ships with a maximum length of 172 m and a draught of 8.2 m.
The shipyard, which delivered a 1,000 teu vessel to Dongjin Shipping last month, currently has an orderbook of 19 vessels, which includes eight chemical/products tankers, two fishing vessels, and nine container vessels, according to the IHS Maritime database.
