Frontline 2012, the John Fredriksen-controlled shipowner, has extended an existing order for LR2 tankers at China’s New Times Shipbuilding.
The original four-ship order, placed in October and December 2014, has been extended by two more of the 111,000 dwt ships. The latest pair is due for delivery in February and May 2017.
In addition to its LR2 units, Frontline 2012 also has six Suezmax (160,000 dwt) tankers on order at New Times that were contracted in 4Q 2014 and 1Q 2015. Furthermore, it has eight Capesize (180,000 dwt) bulkers at New Times, contracted in 4Q 2013 and 1Q 2014, according to the latest IHS Maritime newbuilding data.
