More than 400 people are missing after a ferry capsized in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River late on 1 June.
As of early morning on 2 June, rescuers had set free 10 people from Chongqing Dongfang Ferry-owned Dong Fang Zhi Xing, which had turned over at around 21:30 h local time on 1 June near Jianli county of Hubei province, Xinhua News Agency reported, citing the rescue operation command. A body of a victim has also been recovered.
Seven passengers had managed to swim ashore after the boat overturned to report the incident to the police.
Some 410 passengers and 47 crew members were on board the vessel, which was en route from Nanjing to Chongqing, when the accident took place.
Local authorities have deployed 14 patrol ships and 39 other vessels in the rescue operation.
Heavy winds were reported before the incident.
