At least 21 people are thought to have been killed when a pleasure boat and a cargo vessel collided in the Nile River.
Several bodies – including children – have been pulled out of the river by rescue teams, and others remain missing today. Five passengers were rescued.
The incident happened on Wednesday night.
The captain of the cargo ship has been arrested, the BBC reported. The vessel is yet to be identified.
In 2006 Egypt witnessed one of the worst passenger ferry disasters of recent times when ferry Al Salam Boccaccio 98 capsized with the loss of 1,031 people.
