Singapore-based port operator PSA International said it has ordered four gooseneck cranes for its Voltri Pra terminal in Genoa, Italy from Chinese crane manufacturer Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries (ZPMC).
The order comes after a previous order made at the end of 2014 for four similar cranes, also from ZPMC.
The first four cranes will be installed in the first half of 2016, while the second set of cranes is expected to be delivered by the end of 2016.
These new cranes, which are to replace some of the older cranes, will have an outreach of 25 containers wide, enabling the terminal to handle some of the biggest container ships.
The Voltri Pra terminal is a hub for shipping lines serving the vast hinterland of southern continental Europe and beyond.
