Sinopacific Shipbuilding Group (Sinopacific) has won the bid for the construction of nine anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) offshore vessels for Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and its wholly owned subsidiary, ESNAAD.
Sinopacific will deliver all the newbuildings in 2017, Sinopacific said on 16 July.
The design that won the bid is the SPA80A, which is an AHTS with an electric propulsion system and a bollard pull of 80 tonnes. The SPA80A is designed by SDA (Shanghai Design Associates), the Sinopacific offshore supply vessel design team. The SPA80A will be constructed on the basis of the original SPA80 design, which is also Sinopacific’s own brand design.

The vessel’s basic design has been tailored to ADNOC’s specific requirements, ensuring the newbuildings’ performance under the complex conditions of shallow water, high salinity, high temperatures and high humidity in the Persian Gulf.
