China’s Taizhou Kouan Shipbuilding has secured a contract from a German owner for eight 1,400 teu container ships.
Announcing the order on 16 September, the yard said the vessels would each be 153.7 m long, 27.6 m wide, 12.5 m deep, and 7.4 m in design draught.
The first ship is scheduled for delivery in August 2017.
This order takes the yard’s orderbook to 35 vessels, the majority being Handysize and Ultramax bulkers.
