Dubai-based offshore oilfield service provider Topaz Energy and Marine has ordered two offshore subsea construction vessels (OSCVs) from Singapore-listed Norwegian shipbuilder VARD Holdings.
The vessels, which are intended for crane operations, will be of VARD 3 08 design, measuring a total length of 98.1 m with a beam of 20 m.
VARD will design the vessels in Alesund, Norway and build the hulls in its Romania yard.
The vessels will be completed by VARD Brattvaag in Norway in 3Q17 and 4Q17 respectively. The aggregate value of the two contracts exceeds USD100 million.
The DP2-class vessels will have a 120-tonne offshore crane with the capability to reach depths of 3,000 m, enabling subsea equipment to be lowered onto the seabed through a 7.2 x 7.2 m moonpool or over the shipside.
The vessels can also accommodate up to 82 people.
