Singapore-based offshore services provider Ultra Deep Group has ordered a multipurpose diving support construction vessel (MDSCV) from China Merchants Heavy Industry.
The 142 m MDSCV is by far the largest vessel ordered by Ultra Deep Group. It is scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2018.
Based on the proprietary “Red Class 6027” MT design DSCV by Marin Teknikk, the vessel will be equipped with Flash Tekk’s 24-man twin bell saturation dive system.
The vessel comes with two 250 hp, 3000 m working depth remotely operated underwater vehicle (ROV) housed in ROV hangers inside the MDSCV and a 400 tonne crane that have a depth capability of up to 5,200 m single fall and 3,200 m dual fall.
Ultra Deep Group CEO Shel Hutton said the construction of the MDSCV is timely and catered to current market demands.
“The current slowdown in the market allows us time to ensure our designs are optimised and customised for relevance in the oil and gas industry,” said Hutton.
