Taiwanese bulker owner Wisdom Marine has ordered two 34,000 dwt bulk carriers at Japan’s Namura Shipbuilding.
It announced in a Taiwan Stock Exchange filing that the two newbuildings would cost no more than USD44 million in total.
The ships will be delivered by 2H16.
The latest order means Wisdom Marine, which currently owns and operates 107 vessels, has 27 ships on order.
Despite the weak market, Wisdom Marine is ordering new ships to ensure continual fleet renewal.
The company told IHS Maritime that it usually builds ships in Japan as many of its charterers are Japanese ship operators who want a Japanese link in the vessels.
